Gina Tricot and UN together for female strength

In the world of fashion, this years International Women's Day on March 8th culminated with the Power Girl Awards, a both glamorous and powerful homage to female strength. The energetic evening was organized in collaboration between Gina Tricot and the UN through UN Women Sweden.

UN Women Sweden is the Swedish branch of the UN's worldwide work for an equal society free from violence and discrimination against women and girls.

The cooperation between Gina Tricot and UN Women Sweden began in connection with International Women's Day 2017, and continued this year with the joint initiative Power Girl Awards - a charity gala for 500 women, where the proceeds from the sale go unabridged to the work of UN Women Sweden.

Without losing sight of the underlying subject, the event turned into a happy party night at Berns, where the energy was sparkling and disco fever kept rising throughout the night.

"It was an evening I'll never forget," says Anna Appelqvist, brand director at Gina Tricot. "I was extra proud to present the more than 550,000 SEK that we gathered during the evening and in conjunction with our One Bag Habit initiative, where we donate revenues from the last quarter of 2017. The full amount goes straight to UN Women Sweden.”

During the evening, prizes were awarded to several female role models. The people's award "Power Girl of the Year" was handed out to Linnea Lundgren for her supportive friendship and sisterhood. The evening's honorary prize "Superwoman of the Year" was given to Gabriella Ohlzon, founder of Metoo Sweden, who took #Metoo to the next level by arranging a manifestation at Sergels Torg that made thousands of people gather, agree and act.
